My Healthier Indomie Hack (You’ll Actually Crave)
I honestly can’t remember the last time I ate instant noodles straight out of the cup or packet — seasonings and all. Not because I’m avoiding them, but because I just don’t hear that food noise anymore.
Food noise = the mental itch that makes you crave fast food or sweets, even when you’re not actually hungry.
These days, cooking most of my meals has become second nature. I’ve said this often, but it really has changed my life — and my health. That’s what I hope my recipes can do too: help another family experience that same shift. It’s become fun for me to take the foods I used to crave — the ones I thought I had to give up — and remake them into something balanced, nourishing, and still yummy.
Why You’ll Love This Indomie-inspired Recipe
The same joy of making instant noodles at home
Sauce ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen
Ready in under 10 minutes
Easy to customise with protein or veggies — because better nutrition often starts with what you add, not what you exclude :)
Prep Time: 3 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Ingredients
1 pack instant high protein noodles (I use this healthier noodle with no seasoning)
3/4 tbsp Kicap Manis
3/4 tbsp Soy sauce
1 tsp Buldak or Sriracha – get it here
1/2 tsp Sesame oil
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Shallot oil
Dash of white pepper
Optional: add egg, veggies, or crispy tofu or meat for extra protein & added crunch
>> I added a simple oven-baked chicken & cucumber + cherry tomatoes on the side to make my plate balanced
Method
Boil your noodles according to the packet
In a bowl, mix all the sauces and seasonings.
Drain the noodles and immediately toss them in the sauce. It’s okay to still have a bit of water, it helps with mixing the sauce in. If you make a lot of instant noodles, I’m sure you know haha.
Top with your favourite protein (I like a crispy fried egg and it’s just a must for me to have meat as well). Remember your greens! Go for cucumbers and cherry tomatoes like me if you’re lazy.
Serve hot and enjoy the sauciness and satisfying flavour without guilt.
What Makes This Indomie-dupe Recipe Work
No seasoning packet needed — you're making your own flavour bomb.
Shallot oil + Kicap Manis is the cheat code for that Indomie depth!
Adjust the spice level depending on your mood — Buldak if you want heat, or skip it for a milder version.

FAQ & Storage Tips
Can I meal prep this? Yes but I think only the sauce? But if you really have to, no harm cooking the noodles and reheating it with a splash of water in the microwave. Store the sauce and cooked noodles separately!
Is this really healthier? Compared to the full packet version, yes. Every ingredient has a shorter ingredient list, less ultra-processed and more protein! Of course this depends on the sauces you have at home too.
What noodles should I use? Any that you love actually! I paired this with instant protein noodles with a good ingredient list!
